The Story

Looking at the fall of the Modern American Dream through the lens of Ancient Greek Tragedy, TERAΣ revolves around two siblings who grow up on a remote Mediterranean island.
2004
All of Greece is aglow with the prestige of the Athens Olympics. On Teras island, Young Barbara chooses to send her little brother, Tom, as far away from their dangerously homophobic homeland as she can — staying on in his place to take care of their father's soon-to-be-born, illegitimate child.

2025
Tom returns to Teras, now escaping the U.S., with his newly wed American husband. They find the family home in shambles, and Tom's half-sibling, Geri, struggling with gender identity issues. While Barbara asks Tom to finally repay her for what she did for him 20 summers ago — by helping her to kill their father.
The Play

Production
TERAΣ is written for a cast of four actors. It uses their live on stage performance in conjunction with Shadow Theater props, sets and figures (created by modern “Karagiozopaichtes” / Shadow Puppeteers of the Greek tradition), digital video projections, custom lighting and sound design, making for an interdisciplinary multimedia theater performance.

Themes
The play explores family trauma, queer identities and forced expatriation. Looking head-on at the dangers that LGBTQIA+ people and women face in today’s world. It chronicles how the status quo greatly limits people's choices, forcing them to act solely out of fear.
